My Perfect Day in Fountain Hills - Mayor Jay Schlum

My perfect day is an early fall Saturday in Fountain Hills. It starts with enjoying a coffee with my wife on our front patio. There we appreciate the beautiful colors of the sonoran desert sunrise warming the air over the Superstition Mountains to the East. Following coffee we grab the dogs and head out for a walk around our quiet neighborhood. Now I’m off to hike Sunrise Trail behind Fountain Park with my Mother who makes this hike each day. Back home the teenage kids are now awake and hungry, soon were eating my wife's home cooked family favorite breakfast we call “Cheggs” (Chessy Eggs), meat, toast and juice. Following some good protein the four of us drive to Peaks Fitness for our workout followed by reconnecting in the steam room and sauna before showering. On on the way back home we stop at the Goodwill store for 2 for 1 deal Saturday. Once home we hook up the trailer, load the dirt bike and quad and pull them out beyond Fort McDowell and Goldfield Ranch to the beautiful Tonto National Forest to enjoy some trail great riding. Following an hour or so we now are hungry and decide we will enjoy a late lunch at Redendo’s Pizza and Pasta. Back home we knock out a couple chores then dive into the pool and spend time on the lounging to soak up some sun. Back inside the family competes in a bumper pool tournament followed by a couple card or board games. Now it’s 5:00PM and we’re preparing for arrival of family, friends and neighbors to watch the Diamondbacks win while we enjoy BBQ from our grill. Following the Dbacks game victory over the Yankees we visit with friends well into the night were we solve most of the worlds problems. We also sleep soundly knowing we have another great day in Fountain Hills awaiting us tomorrow.
