On Friday, February 19th, an informal gathering will be held from 5-7 PM at the Presbyterian Church to acquaint you with two of our candidates for town council.
As you know, Town Council elections are scheduled for Tuesday, March 9th. Please vote either in person or by mail-in ballot. This is a non-partisan election, but party affiliation does show the basic prism from which all candidates and elected officials view the world and is the basis for all decisions. There are two Republicans in the race, Tail Elkie and Hugh Henry. I ask that you vote for both of them so that we can have a strong conservative presence on the Town Council.
Fiscal conservatives are needed on Council during these difficult times. Our Town's future depends on good fiscal planning and follow-through. Your Board endorses both Tait Elkie and Hugh Henry and strongly recommends that you vote for them. There are many difficult decisions to be made that affect all of us The first response should not be "raise taxes". Neither Hugh nor Tait will have that as their first response.
To better acquaint Fountain Hills residents with both candidates, the club is hosting a "PIZZA AND POLITICS" open house at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church on Friday, February 29th from 5 - 7 p.m. If you don't know Tait and Hugh please come, meet and talk to them. If you already know Tait and Hugh, bring you neighbors to the event. We are convinced that once you meet and listen to them, they will have your vote, There will be free pizza, beer, wine, water and soft drinks. I hope to see you and your neighbors there.
If you are not registered to vote, it is too late to do so for this election, but it is time to register for the August primary and the November general elections. You may register by going to azsos.gov, mouse over the "elections" tab and select "Voter Information", then click on "Register to Vote" (which takes you to http://www.azsos.gov/election/VoterRegistration.htm) and then follow the instructions.
If you are registered and not on the Permanent Early Ballot list, you may request an early ballot by going on-line to http://recorder.maricopa.gov/ and clicking on Elections and Voter Information towards the bottom of the page, then on the new page, click on "Request an Early Ballot" on the right side of the page. That takes you to https://recorder.maricopa.gov/earlyvoteballotnet/evbrequest.aspx where you fill out the form. An alternative is to call 602-506-1511.
Hope to see you on the 19th!
